Custom Gaylord Box Builder

A custom vacuum lift and pitch lifting device powered plant air which ran the venturi vacuum and pitching, rotating cylinders was integrated with a Gorbel Easy Arm Zero-Gravity PLC controlled hoist.  Because the boxes we tall and varied in pick height from the floor to 50” a floating handle was provided to keep the operators hands at a safe ergonomic level.  Because we used an extended handle, a Gorbel G-Force pendant handle was used with the tool instead of a Gorbel G-Force slide handle to give the operators leverage on the tool when it was loaded and unloaded. The lift assist was incorporated with our standard gripper safely circuit, which prevents the part from being released in mid-air. The Gorbel G-Force allows for smooth, quick, and precise lifting of boxes to assist the operators in handling the large loads.

Steel Pipe End Effector With Pneumatic Grip and Rotate for CNC Loading

This custom end effector is designed to lift up to 250 pound steel pipes or cylinders to load a CNC machine. The tool can manually adjust to handle multiple widths. Tool pneumatically grips and pneumatically rotates in a clockwise/counterclockwise motion. This tool was suspended from a Gorbel Easy Arm 330 lb unit. This allowed utilizing float mode for easy loading of the large product into very sensitive machining centers.

Banding Lifting Device

Application: Banding Material Lifting Device

Problem: Customer would have a full skid of banding material delivered to an unwind station. The banding material weighed up to 105 pounds, and the operators had to move each spool 2-3 times per hour. The operators were lifting this by hand.

Requirement: Pick up customer's banding material from a flat (eye to the sky) orientation and rotate it up 90 degrees to load onto an unwind machine.

Solution: Due to the tight tolerance of the loading, it was ideal to have an intelligent assisted lifting device for the vertical travel. The tight space also required an articulated arm to allow freedom of movement without the fear of hitting the walls. The device was equipped with a pneumatic grip with a powered 90 degree pneumatic rotation. Combined with the Gorbel Easy Arm for lifting, this took the entire load off the operator.

Result: The customer/operator in the area was incredibly relieved by the amount of stress this lift took off his body. Within a month of having it, a sign was made specifically for Ron the operator. They dubbed this unit “The Ron Lift” because he apparently couldn’t stop talking about it.
